Personnel: Piano: Wayne Wilentz Bass: David Jernigan Drums: Jim West Percussion: Roberto Berimbaú Tablas on "Oriente" : Thomaz De Castro 11 years after the success of "e Nossos Amigos", the Wayne Wilentz Trio (adding percussionist Roberto Berimbau to become a Quartet) have finally released a 2nd full length recording. "Recordar E Viver" is a reflection of where the group is right now, still focused on Brazilian songs and rhythms, but also re-exploring American Jazz, with an idea to meld the two styles. The CD's 1st track, the choro "Carinhoso" boldly takes the Brazilian standard and puts in a driving swing. Along with originals by Wayne and bassist David Jernigan, the group covers songs by composers as varied as Chico Buarque, Duke Ellington, Gilberto Gil and Jimi Hendrix. |
