Thelonious Monk competition finalist Tom
Baldwin is pleased to announce the much anticipated arrival of his debut
recording as a leader. Glom On To This is a compelling collection of
well-crafted original compositions that features the bassist in good company
with Chris Bacas on saxophones, George Colligan on piano, and Howard Curtis on
drums. Baldwin's distinctive writing draws from traditional and modern
influences. His melodies are lyrical and intricate; his sophisticated harmonies
provide challenging vehicles for the soloists. Each member of the quartet
contributes masterful solos and impeccable ensemble work. Baldwin's time, tone,
note choice, and soloing abilities are as good as those of anyone on the scene
today. As Gene Bertoncini once said, "This kid's almost too good!" The session
took place at The Studio in New York, and the sound quality of the recording is
outstanding. It was expertly engineered by Jon Rosenberg, and mixed and
