18th Annual ROSSLYN JAZZ FESTIVAL

The 18th Annual ROSSLYN JAZZ FESTIVAL features yet another world-class lineup of today's pre-eminent jazz artists on Saturday, September 6th, 2008, from 12:30pm until 7:00pm. Experience honey-voiced HOLLY COLE – Canada’s “Best Jazz Album” 2008 Juno Awardee; harmonica virtuoso FREDERIC YONNET; visionary pianist LAFAYETTE GILCHRIST and the New Volcanoes; and kick things off with a 90-minute “Salsa-Meets-Jazz” jam session by the Grammy Award-winning SPANISH HARLEM ORCHESTRA! Cited among our region’s standout jazz festivals by JazzTimes magazine (Jan/Feb, 2006), this FREE EVENT occurs in Rosslyn’s GATEWAY PARK, 1300 Lee Highway (N. Lynn Street and Lee Highway), in Arlington, Virginia. It is FREE and open to the Public! The performance schedule is as follows:

  • 12:30 – 2:00: The SPANISH HARLEM ORCHESTRA
  • 2:30 - 3:40: LAFAYETTE GILCHRIST and the New Volcanoes
  • 4:00 - 5:15: FREDERIC YONNET
  • 5:45 – 7:00: HOLLY COLE

FREE and open to the Public, the event is Co-sponsored by the Rosslyn BID, Arlington Cultural Affairs and Rosslyn Renaissance. Portions of the event will again be BROADCAST LIVE by jazz station WPFW 89.3 FM, and hosted by several on-air personalities! As always, the ROSSLYN JAZZ FESTIVAL also will offer a range of fantastic foods from finer local restaurants & vendors. For the second year, the food vendors will be placed on an adjacent strip of Lee Highway that will be closed to traffic for the day. New for 2008 – a Jumbotron screen and speakers will be placed adjacent to the food area so patrons will not miss a beat!
